Summertime is almost synonymous with barbecue lunch or dinner in New Zealand and Abel Tasman Guesthouse is no exception! We provide a gas powered barbecue for your use on the East terrace, down at the main house (ask at reception). The terrace also has a table and chairs so you can enjoy your meal outdoors while still under cover.
We provide free, unlimited WiFi in all of our apartments and rooms.
The laundry facilities for our guests are located in a small room beneath the Moa and Weka units in the ground floor of the lower group of units near the main house/reception. There are two washing machines and a laundry sink. We have a number of small clothes airers provided either in your apartment or available at reception if required.
There is a large lawn next to the East terrace on which you are welcome to play or relax. Take a few minutes to wander over and check out the pond (again, children should be supervised) and the fruit trees on the other side. Feel free to pick some oranges, apples, pears or plums if they are ripe, but don’t forget to leave some for everyone else to enjoy also.
Our little gems – Glow worm Gully!
For a special treat after dinner, why not head down the driveway near the main house to glimpse our glow-worms. These special little insects (actually larvae, not worms) live on the banks of the small creek that runs alongside the driveway, and after dark they switch on their lights to create a delightful display that resembles the stars in the night sky. Use a torch to get there in the dark, but when you arrive it is recommended to switch off the torch and stay as quiet as possible, as these little guys can get startled by bright lights and loud noises and will hide their lights away.
On the way back, add to the magical experience with some star gazing. Many a visitor has been in awe of the amount of stars that can be seen here on a clear night. If you watch for just a few minutes you can often see a shooting star or two!
